Method 1: Reset via WordPress login URL

WordPress sites are configured, by default, to use a login URL that includes a 'forgotten password' feature. This is the most straightforward way to rest the password if you know the email address for the WordPress admin user.

Method 2: Reset via cPanel/hosting account

If you don't know the email or username details or no longer have access to the email address, you can reset the password via the cPanel/hosting account using the WordPress Toolkit. This option is useful if you need to change passwords for multiple users or if you have forgotten your WordPress Admin username/password but still have access to the cPanel.

METHOD 1:

To reset your WordPress admin password via the login URL

1. First, visit your WordPress site's login page. By default, this is your domain with "/wp-admin" at the end. e.g. example.com/wp-admin (be sure to replace 'example.com' with your domain name)

2. Once at the login page, click 'Lost your password?'.

3. On the next screen, enter your email address or username of your admin account and click 'Get New Password'. A password reset email will be sent to that address or the one associated with the username entered, with further instructions to change the password.

METHOD 2:

To reset your WordPress admin password using the WordPress Toolkit

You will need to be logged into the cPanel hosting service to follow these steps.
If you're not sure how to access your cPanel service — please, follow this guide before continuing: How do I Login to cPanel?

1. Login to cPanel.

2. Click 'WP Toolkit' located on the left side of your cPanel dashboard.

3. Click the 'Expander Arrow' to show the details of your WordPress install. (If it is already expanded, proceed to step 4.)

4. Click the 'Setup' button

5. A pop-up box will appear on the left side of the screen.

6. Click 'Generate' to create a strong, random password. Alternatively, type your own password into the 'New Password' text box.

7. A new password notification will be sent to the address listed in 'Aministrator's email'. Change this only if you need to update the address.

8. When you've entered the new details, click the 'Change' button.

9. You will be redirected to WordPress Toolkit - click the 'Login' button to automatically log into the WordPress admin area.

You'll now be able to access the WordPress site without needing the password, simply click the 'Login' button here in the WordPress Toolkit.
